Music Distribution

The cover picture has to be uploaded as JPG file with 3000x3000 pixels. The quality of the cover picture is very important for your sales success. To make sure your album is accepted by the music services, you have to follow these guidelines: The cover pic can not include any blurry/pixelated pictures, graphics, texts, or collages. Cover pics with inferior quality will be rejected by the music services. The cover pic can not include any additional info about the album (e.g. music genre, instruments, Summer Hit, Hit Single, Charity etc.). The cover pic can not include a tracklist or multiple song titles. The cover pic can not include any contact info (e.g. internet address, email, phone number, social media links etc.). The cover pic can not include any format info (e.g. single, ep, album, mixtape, incl. booklet etc.). The cover pic can not include any availability info (e.g. limited edition, exclusive, digital only, available on, now on iTunes etc.). The cover pic can not include any info about other products (e.g. the single to the album, CD logo etc.). The cover pic can not include any rights info (e.g. copyright, composer or songwriter names etc.). The cover pic can not include any music service logos or other trademarked logos. The cover pic can not include pornography. The cover pic can not include any names or pictures of artists or persons other than the involved artists. Every album needs an individual cover pic. The album title and artist name on the cover pic have to match the product info. The cover pic can not violate trademark, copyright and personal rights, or any other third parties' rights. The cover pic can not be misleading in any way. If you use pictures or graphics from the Internet or stock libraries, you have to make sure you're authorized to edit and use them commercially and you own the respective usage rights. Please follow all guidelines to avoid any delay or problems with the distribution of your music. Cover pics with inferior quality will be rejected by the shops. You can find examples of good cover pics in our references.

To account your sales every song needs an ISRC (song identification) and every album needs a UPC (album identification). All required codes are already included in your flatrate, so you don't have to worry about these codes. You'll find the codes in your user account under "albums" after an album has been distributed by us.

If you violate third party rights, laws, or our terms, your albums may be deleted, your account suspended or deleted, and payouts cancelled. Rights violations are often criminal offenses that might have further consequences, such as contractual penalties, legal warnings, action for an injunction, claims for compensation, as well as legal fines or prison sentences. Therefore, please make sure you don’t violate any rights. Typical rights violations are for example: „Streaming fraud“, e.g. the artificial increase and/or manipulation of sales/plays at the music streaming services (e.g. usage of automated processes, codes or scripts, usage of various accounts at the music services that constantly play the songs of the user, or by using a third parties' offer to buy streams) Usage of audio recordings (e.g. samples or instrumentals) without the permission of the rights owner Usage of lyrics and/or compositions without the permission of the rights owner Incorrect copyright information (e.g. wrong songwriter, composer, publisher or incomplete/incorrect information and/or wrong spellings) Usage of cover versions, remixes, DJ mixes or other edits without the permission of the rights owner Usage of pictures, photos, or graphics without the permission of the rights owner Usage of logos or trade marks without the permission of the rights owner Incorrect personal/company data in the user account Unlicensed usage of a third parties' artist name NOTE: It’s technically not possible, and we’re legally not obligated, to check your uploaded albums for their rightfulness. With the upload you confirm that no rights are being violated and you are liable for all damages, costs, or expenses arising from a rights violation.

Each artist name has to be distinctive and unique and can not be in use by another artist or band already. Before using our service, you have to check if your artist name is already in use by another artist or band (e.g. by search on Google, Spotify, iTunes, YouTube). The usage of small and capital letters or special characters is legally not sufficient to make an artist name distinctive and unique. If your artist name is already in use, you're violation the name rights of the other artist and your albums will be added to the already existing artist profile in the music services and can be deleted at any time. Furthermore, you could be sued for violating name or trademark rights. There is no entitlement for an own artist profile with an already existing artist name that's used by a third party. If your artist name is already in use, you have to change your artist name immediately to avoid legal problems. Make sure the new artist name is distinctive and unique. If the artist name is also used on your cover pictures, they have to be changed as well. If you think you own the artist name rights, please contact a lawyer. You can always change artist names by a data revision.

You need the rights for all audio recordings ("master rights"), the permissions of all copyright owners (songwriter, composer, publisher), and the rights for the cover picture. If you use any content (such as audio recordings, samples, melodies, lyrics, compositions, artist names, trademarks, logos, graphics, pictures, photos) of others, you need to get the permission from the rights' owner. You're not allowed to upload this content without the respective permission. You are responsible and liable for owning all rights for the content you upload. We recommend to get a written permission from all rights owners to avoid legal problems. By uploading your album, you confirm to own all necessary rights and permissions and that no third parties' rights are violated. If case of rights violations you are fully liable.

You keep all rights on your music. We only need the worldwide online music distribution right for the uploaded songs, during the time we distribute them. You're not allowed to distribute the same songs to the same music services through another music distributor or directly to a music service during the contract period. But of course, you can still exploit your songs in every other way possible, like on CD, LP, as YouTube video, or as stream or download on your own homepage.
